Wouldn’t you love to be able to win a pizza party for your 7th period class? Well, by bringing in donations for the Malawi Container Project and giving them to your 7th period teacher, you could help your class win. Teachers have a list of items that are acceptable to bring in and the date has been extended until May 24th. Also, you can drop off school supplies such as pencils, pens, erasers, markers, and highlighters to collection boxes in the L-Room and Houses 1 and 3 until June 3rd. So, make sure you bring in your donations soon!

Speaking of donations, H2O is looking for volunteers to donate their time and help place flags on the graves of veterans at Lakewood Park Cemetery in Rocky River. Anyone wishing to help should pick up a permission slip in the H2O Office. The volunteers will meet at Lakewood High School on Saturday May 25th at 9am, and will be bused to the cemetery. Lunch will be provided and lots of volunteers will be needed to help place over 2,000 flags! Grab a couple friends and sign up now!

Seniors if you are still kicking yourself for not picking up your cap and gown, then don’t worry! You can still pick up your cap and gown for commencement in the Student Activities office.

Again, seniors, another announcement for you. If you have any overdue library books, return them to the library ASAP. You cannot graduate if you have any fees. So get those books back t o the people who have been assigned to care for them.

Research has shown that texting and driving is as dangerous as getting behind the wheel drunk. For that reason, and because we want to see everyone have a safe summer, head down to the Student Activities office, and pick up your BFF pledge forms. Make a pledge to stop a friend from texting and driving, The life you save may be your own.

Hey, NHS Seniors, the National Honor Society Senior breakfast is on Thursday. If you are a senior and have not received an invitation for this breakfast, see Mr. Sent in room A123. If you are a junior and you have not signed up to bring something to the breakfast, also see Mr. Sent. All NHS juniors must sign up ASAP.

Adele, Taylor Swift, Phillip Phillips, The Lumineers, Rush, The Who, Phil Collins and Bon Jovi. If you enjoy listening to these artists and are a talented guitarist, bassist, drummer, or keyboardist, then you’re just what the Lakewood Project is looking for. Auditions are in 11 days, so if you haven’t already grabbed an audition form from the bulletin board outside the Civic Auditorium stage door, you’d better get one ASAP in order to be prepared in time. Auditions will be May 31st and if you have any questions, see Ms. Hankins in the Civic. She’ll be more than happy to answer them.

Speaking of informational sports meetings, the Cross Country Team will be having an informational meeting on Tuesday the 28th after school in the East Cafeteria for anyone interested in joining the team in the fall.

If you buy that ranger tumbler, what better way to fill it than with some cool, refreshing agua. The special education classes in the high school Mods are revving up their spring bottled water sales to cover graduation expenses for their students. Mrs. Nash, Mrs. David and Mrs. Kalina welcome all customers for ice cold water to their new location, Mod 28. The sale continues up to graduation.

Another way you can show your spirit will be at the final Best Buy competition of the year. LHS will take on Best Buy in a game of flag football on May 29th. Are students are welcome to sign up to play, but only 10 will be picked as player and 6 will be chosen as cheerleaders. If you come to the game and display your best school appropriate spirit you could even win a prize. So, come dressed in purple and gold, make signs, paint your face and help us win the trophy back on May 29th.

The final Watters Science Seminar of the school year will take place tonight at 7 p.m. in LEC 3. The guest this evening will be Dr. Andrew Shoffstall of Case Western Reserve University. The topic will be the use of artificial platelets in reducing blood loss. If you are a Watters Science Seminar member, this is your final chance of the year to ask questions of someone who has made a living from their love of science.

If you are looking for information about how you can afford college, you need to know that Mrs. Sandoval, our College Now Advisor, will be here for only three more days this school year before she is gone for the summer. The dates are May 22nd, 23rd and 29th . If you need to see Mrs. Sandoval before she leaves please do so between 8 and 3pm on the dates just mentioned.
