on being part of the district's Gifted progam.

 

DISTRICT GOALS

2012-2013 School Year

Goal 1: To Improve Student Achievement 
 
  • To realize a full year of academic growth for each and every student during the 2012-2013 school year
  • To build students’ critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication skills to become productive 21st Century citizens
  •  To make progress on becoming a top 20 school district by the year 2020
         Proposed Areas of Focus for 2012-2013:
  • Prepare all teachers for the instructional changes needed to fully implement the Common Core and revised standards for 2013-2014 school year
  • Implement the new Response to Instruction & Intervention framework for grades K-5 and address requirements of the third grade guarantee
  • Increase consistency and effectiveness of our teacher-based teams across the district by highlighting the strategies that are achieving the best results
  • Improve classroom instruction by emphasizing purposeful student use of technology that addresses 21st Century Skills
  • Continue to develop the instructional leadership skills of our principals as they lead this important work in each of their buildings

Goal 2: To Provide for Fiscal Stability of our School District

  • To reduce and control expenditures everywhere possible while maintaining a balanced program
  • To explore all possibilities for increasing revenue that will have a positive impact on providing programs and services for our students and the greater Lakewood community
  • Obtain support for an operating levy in order to sustain our excellent programming
  •  

Goal 3: To Work within the Ohio Schools Facilities Commission Guidelines to Prepare for our Phase III Facilities Program

  • Update projected enrollment data
  • Update our comprehensive facility master plan
  • Prepare for the Phase III design phase

Goal 4: To Maintain the Confidence of the Staff and the Community in the Lakewood Schools

  • Maintain parent and community satisfaction with the quality of the day-to-day learning experiences our students are having in schools
  • Focus on Lakewood’s long-standing tradition of everyone working together and the critical difference that makes for our students
  • Focus on the positive accomplishments of our students and staff
  • Assess community interests for expanded educational offerings for all ages
  • Maintain open communication regarding the future of the Lakewood School District
