Congratulations to these students and to all students who worked to achieve their best this year. Have a wonderful summer!

Enrichment Activities: As in the past, Lakewood High School will be invited to select students for various enrichment activities utside of school during the 2009-10 school year, e.g., Buckeye Boys and Girls State programs, HOBY leadership, Look Up To Cleveland activities, etc. While we do our best to inform students of these opportunities and invite them to become involved, we ask that you also encourage your students to be informed by listening to announcements and following up on recommendations from their teachers and counselors.

SAT Subject Tests are one-hour long multiple-choice tests that measure knowledge and skills in a specific subject area. Some colleges (usually the highly selective ones) specify the SAT Subject Tests they require for admission or placement; others allow applicants to choose which tests to take. Students should take Subject Tests as soon as possible after completing the course in the subject area.

About the Gifted Program
While many gifted students at the elementary and middle school level are served in a self-contained gifted classroom, gifted students at LHS have the opportunity, along with any student who meets the prerequisites, to take advanced and Advanced Placement classes. LHS provides many of these rigorous courses, and with the consent of parents and teachers, students may pursue this advanced level sequence throughout high school.

A Gifted Coordinator works from the Connection Center at Lakewood High School to provide support services for students, staff, and parents. The Coordinator is an advocate for gifted education in general and gifted students in particular.

This website is intended to be a service to you—please do not hesitate to offer suggestions to improve it. I look forward to working with you and your student(s) over these next few years.
