Lincoln PTA

JULY 2014

Our volunteers continue to make progress with the landscaping improvements at our school entrance, and we need your help. On Monday, July 21st, beginning at 6:30 p.m. we are removing the old railroad ties on the Chase Avenue side of the building.  We would appreciate volunteers to assist with the removal, weeding, raking, etc. Then, all are welcome to join us at the Winking Lizard after for a post-work celebration.

We will also soon need perennial donations of plants that do well in part shade, so if you have any plants such as hostas, ferns, sedum, coneflowers, lilies, or daisies that can be divided and shared please let me know.  We hope to be planting beginning on July 27th, but stay tuned.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at  Thank you in advance for your help

Several parents have expressed interest in joining together to brainstorm for ideas in helping to get students to and from school.  With the upcoming transition to St. Luke, the distance to school may be longer than it was in prior years which is posing challenges for some parents who  are not able to drive or walk their child one or both ways to school.

One idea that was raised is a car pool sign-up to enable those that are able to do drop-off to have help with pick-up and vice versa.  Another idea is to have a “walking bus” (a group of children walking to school with one or more adults).

At this point, we are trying to gather a list of names of families that have a need and/or would be willing to assist with this effort so we can set a meeting time to share ideas and come up with some solutions.

If this interests you and/or you have some ideas to share, please contact Candace Melicant at cjmelicant@ Kelly Jablonowski at

Lincoln PTA welcomes volunteers for our fun year ahead!

We wish you all a very happy, healthy, and safe summer!

See you at St Luke!
